Paul McCartney is working on an animation adaptation of his children’s book High In The Clouds. Published in 2005, the book was written by McCartney, Geoff Dunbar and Philip Ardagh. It follows Wirral the Squirrel’s quest to find the fabled utopia of Animalia, after his woodland home is destroyed by the evil Gretsch.McCartney is to voice one of the characters in the animation. The soundtrack will feature “seven or eight of his new songs,” according to a , including a collaboration with Lady Gaga described as a “rollicking tune”.In February 2015 Lady Gaga posted a photograph from the recording session on her Instagram account, with the caption: “Had a beautiful session with Sir Paul McCartney and friends. Working on one of his many secret projects! Killer musicians, vibe, and lots of laughs.”With McCartney and Gaga in the photograph were McCartney’s drummer Abe Laboriel Jr and Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready and other musicians.McCartney and Dunbar have collaborated on a number of previous animation projects, including Rupert And The Frog Song, which won a Bafta for best animated short film. It became the biggest selling short video of 1985 and was nominated for the best music video – short form Grammy in 1986.The adaptation of High In The Clouds is directed by Cody Cameron from a screenplay by Date Night’s Josh Klausner. It was to have been the first animation produced by Unique Features, but has since changed hands to RGH Entertainment.RGH, in partnership with Unique Features, plans to show a sizzle (demo) reel of the film in November at the American Film Market industry festival in Santa Monica, California.
