Paul McCartney live at Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, Liverpool

Paul McCartney returned to his old school, now the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, for an hour-long Q&A with students, followed by a live acoustic set. The Q&A, hosted by former Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker, was attended by around 450 people and live streamed on Facebook, with fans able to submit questions in advance. LIPA was co-founded by Paul in 1996. He remains the institute’s lead patron.McCartney and his band performed an 11-song acoustic set at the end of the discussion session. The set contained songs by The Beatles and Wings, as well as solo material and cover versions.McCartney performed The Beatles’ From Me To You for the first time since 1964. He also played his first ever song, I Lost My Little Girl, for the first time since 2003.The set also contained covers of Jesse Fuller’s San Francisco Bay Blues, and Lead Belly’s Midnight Special. There was just one song – Confidante – from McCartney’s forthcoming 17th solo album Egypt Station.
