Tickets for both sold out in a matter of days in September.Edmonton was in a celebratory mood ahead of the shows, with mayor Stephen Mandel officially proclaiming 26-30 November as Paul McCartney Week.Part of 102A Avenue running through Churchill Square renamed Abbey Road for the week. Silhouettes of The Beatles’ famous crossing on the 1969 album cover were positioned on the road between City Hall and the Three Bananas Cafe.A free screening of The Beatles’ 1964 film A Hard Day’s Night took place at City Hall, while on Churchill Square the party atmosphere continued with local improv performers dressed as the Queen, royal guards and British policemen.McCartney’s band was Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (vocals, keyboards, guitar, percussion, harmonica), Brian Ray (vocals, guitar, bass), Rusty Anderson (vocals, guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (vocals, drums).The setlist contained two unusual songs: Wonderful Christmastime and Mull Of Kintyre, both in the encore sections.
