En vivo: Storyville Jazz Club, Liverpool

This was The Beatles’ last of three performances at the Storyville Jazz Club at 13 Temple Street, Liverpool. It was billed as “The Beatles’ Farewell Party”, although there were no imminent trips away and it was unlikely the group knew it would be their final show at the venue. The club was based at the former Iron Door Club, which had opened in April 1960. The Beatles had played there as The Silver Beetles on 15 May 1960.In 1961 it became the Liverpool Jazz Society, with events promoted by Sam Leach. The Beatles performed there on five occasions, all within the same month. The dates were 6, 11, 13, 15 and 17 March 1961.In 1962 the venue became the Storyville Jazz Club, where The Beatles played on three occasions. The other dates were 1 and 8 March 1962. In September that year the venue reverted to being known as the Iron Door Club.
