Studio Two, EMI Studios, Abbey RoadProducer: John LennonEngineer: Jeff JarrattOn 22 April 1969, John Lennon and Yoko Ono had recorded the track John And Yoko, which comprised side one of their Wedding Album. As part of the track, Lennon and Ono had recorded their heartbeats using a sensitive hospital microphone. They then stood at a pair of microphones and called each others’ names for 22 minutes.Following mixing attempts on 22 and 26 April, it was decided that the heartbeats could be improved. They were re-recorded during this session, which lasted from 3-6pm.The nice thing about working with John and Yoko was seeing just how much in love they were. They had a fantastic relationship, even though they took a lot of ‘stick’ for it. The John And Yoko recording was fantastic, though quite unpleasant. John managed to get hold of a highly sensitive microphone from a local hospital and we recorded their heart beats.
